The Hermitage museum on the Amstel river is the Dutch branch of the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg (Russia). The entrance is located at the front of the 17th century 4000 m2 building along the Amstel and the courtyard is open for everyone.
Childrens department
The Neerlandia building, is the Hermitage for Children. School classes are able to work creatively in five studios. The building has its own canteen and shop. The children can enter the museum via a connecting passage.
More than a museum
The building also houses a study centre. Visitors of the exhibitions can find information about the history of Russia and St. Petersburg.
The museum is closed from 1 February until 5 March. Restaurant Neva is closed on 1-7 February and 4-5 March.
